Apocalypse Indoor Setup Guide

This guide will walk you through setting up your Apocalypse Hotspot. Please follow the steps carefully and contact our support team if you encounter any issues.


Initial Setup

Before permanently mounting your Apocalypse Hotspot, place it near your router in an easily accessible location. This initial setup ensures that everything is working correctly before installing the device in a hard-to-reach spot.


Setup Requirements

Ensure you have the following before beginning the setup process:

  • Device: iPhone with iOS 14.0 or higher, or an Android smartphone with Android 11 or higher.

  • App: Download the Wayru WiFi app for iOS or Android.

  • Wallet: The app automatically creates a wallet for you. You may use this wallet or import your own—just be sure to save your keys before beginning the minting process.

  • Funds: Ensure you have $50 USD in SOL plus extra for transaction fees.

  • Connection: A wired broadband connection is required.


Step 1: Add Your Miner

Begin by adding your Apocalypse Hotspot via the Wayru WiFi app.

Instructions:

  • Open the App: Launch the Wayru WiFi app.

  • Navigate to Miners: Tap the Miners section in the button bar.

  • Add Miner: Click on the + Add Miner button.

  • Select Device: Choose Wayru Apocalypse.

  • Proceed: Tap Continue.


Step 2: Connect Your Device to the Router

Establish an internet connection for your device.

Instructions:

  • Connect an Ethernet cable from the WAN port of the Apocalypse Hotspot to a LAN port on your router (or modem) that has an active internet connection.


Step 3: Connect the Power Adapter

Set up the power connection for your device.

Instructions:

  • Connect the Power Adapter to the power port on the Apocalypse Hotspot.

  • Plug the Power Adapter into a power outlet.

Note: DO NOT UNPLUG THE DEVICE until you have completed the following steps.


Step 4: Start the Firmware Update Process

Once the device is connected, initiate the firmware update.

Instructions:

  • In the app, tap Continue once your device is properly connected.

  • Enter the MAC address of the device (located on the back of the device).

  • The system will verify your MAC address and initiate the firmware update. Tap Start update.

    • Reminder: Do not disconnect the device from power or the internet during the update.

  • When the system approves your request, tap Done.

Within approximately 15 minutes, you’ll receive an app notification indicating that the firmware has been updated and that you’re ready to mint the device. If you don’t receive a notification within 30 minutes, please open a support ticket for assistance.


Step 5: Configure the Device and Set Its Location

After the firmware update, configure your device settings and set its location.

Instructions:

  • Open the Account section in the Wayru app and navigate to the Notifications tab.

  • Tap the notification indicating that a device is waiting for configuration.

  • Continue the "Add Miner" process by setting your location:

    • If you’re on iOS, go to your phone’s Settings and enable Precise Location and go back to the app.

    • Once your location is set, tap Adjust location.

  • Your phone will attempt to connect to the Wayru Operator Wi‑Fi network. Tap Connect.

    • Manual Connection: If the connection does not occur automatically, go to your Wi‑Fi settings and connect manually to the Wayru Operator network using the password: 988Dh283zX

  • After connecting, tap Connect again in the app, then tap Add to add the miner.

  • If an error occurs, tap Try again.


Step 6: Mint the Device

Complete the minting process to register your hotspot.

Instructions:

  • Once the device is added, tap the Mint button.

  • Choose the Solana wallet with sufficient balance for the mint cost plus transaction fee.

  • Select your wallet and tap Confirm.

  • Verify the amount to be charged. If you have a discount code, enter it now, then tap Confirm.

  • Sign the transaction to start the minting process (this typically takes about 2 minutes).

When finished, a message will confirm that your hotspot was successfully minted.

Common Minting Error

Sometimes, the payment may go through but the blockchain doesn’t confirm in time, causing the app to assume the payment wasn’t made. If this happens:

  • Check: Verify if the amount was deducted from your wallet.

  • If Not Deducted: Try the mint process again.

  • If Deducted: Open a support ticket to receive a free mint code and repeat the final mint step.


Step 7: View Your Apocalypse Hotspot

Once minted, you can view your hotspot in the app.

Instructions:

  • Open the Miners tab to see your deployed hotspot.

  • Status Indicators:

    • The hotspot will initially appear in red until it is fully activated.

    • It will turn green once activation is complete.

    • A turquoise/light blue color indicates that further actions are required.

    Note: It may take up to 10 minutes for the hotspot to appear in the list, and up to 48 hours before it begins earning rewards.


Step 8: Mounting Your Hotspot

Proper mounting is essential for optimal performance.

Instructions:

  • Tabletop Placement: Place the hotspot on a table, desk, or counter.

  • Wall Mount: Alternatively, mount the device on a wall.


Step 9: Test the Networks

Finally, verify that all networks are functioning correctly.

Instructions:

  • Connect to the Wayru WiFi network.

  • Connect to the Wayru Mobile network.

  • Connect your other devices to the Wayru Operators network.
