This guide will walk you through setting up your Prometheus Hotspot. Please follow the steps carefully and contact our support team if you encounter any issues.
Initial Setup
Before permanently mounting your Prometheus Hotspot, place it near your router in an easily accessible location. This initial setup ensures that everything is working correctly before installation in a potentially hard-to-reach spot.
Setup Requirements
Device: iPhone with iOS 14.0 or higher, or Android smartphone with Android 11 or higher.
App: Download the Wayru WiFi app for iOS or Android.
Wallet: The app automatically creates a wallet for you. You may use this wallet or import your own—just be sure to save your keys before beginning the minting process.
Funds: Ensure you have $50 USD in SOL plus extra for transaction fees.
Connection: A wired broadband connection is required.
Step 1: Add Your Miner
Begin by adding your Prometheus Hotspot via the Wayru WiFi app.
Instructions:
Open the App: Launch the Wayru WiFi app.
Navigate to Miners: Tap the Miners section in the button bar.
Add Miner: Click on the + Add Miner button.
Select Device: Choose Wayru Prometheus.
Proceed: Tap Continue.
Step 2: Connect the Device
Connect your Prometheus Hotspot to the power supply adapter:
WAN Connection: Use an Ethernet cable to connect the WAN port of the Prometheus device to the POE port of the provided Power Supply Adapter.
Step 3: Connect to Your Router
Establish your internet connection:
LAN Connection: Connect the LAN port of the POE Power Supply Adapter to a working LAN port on your Internet provider's router using an Ethernet cable.
Step 4: Power Up the Device
Power your Prometheus Hotspot:
Power Connection: Connect the POE Power Supply Adapter to a power socket.
Important: DO NOT UNPLUG THE DEVICE until you complete the following steps.
Step 5: Start the Firmware Update Process
Once the device is connected, begin updating the firmware.
Instructions:
Open the app and tap Continue once your device is properly connected.
Enter the MAC address of the device (located on the back of the device).
The system will verify your MAC address and initiate the firmware update. Tap Start update.
Reminder: Do not disconnect the device from power or internet during the update.
When the system approves your request, tap Done.
In about 15 minutes, you’ll receive an app notification indicating that the firmware has updated and you’re ready to mint the device. If you don’t receive a notification within 30 minutes, please open a support ticket for assistance.
Step 6: Configure the Device and Set Its Location
After the firmware update:

Open the Account section in the Wayru app and navigate to the Notifications tab. Tap the notification indicating that a device is waiting for configuration.
This will resume the "Add Miner" process. You will now need to set your location:
If you’re on iOS, go to your phone’s Settings and allow Precise Location.
Once your location is set, tap Adjust location.
Your phone will attempt to connect to the Wayru Operator Wi‑Fi network. Tap Connect.
Manual Connection: If the connection does not occur automatically, go to your Wi‑Fi settings and connect manually to the Wayru Operator network using the password:

After connecting, tap Connect again in the app, then tap Add to add the miner. If an error occurs, tap Try again.
Step 7: Mint the Device
Complete the minting process to register your hotspot.
Instructions:
Once the device is added, tap the Mint button.
Choose the Solana wallet with sufficient balance for the mint cost plus transaction fee.
Select your wallet and tap Confirm.
Verify the amount to be charged. If you have a discount code, enter it now, then tap Confirm.
Sign the transaction to start the minting process (this typically takes about 2 minutes).
When finished, a message will confirm that your hotspot was successfully minted.
Common Minting Error
Sometimes, the payment may go through, but the blockchain doesn’t confirm in time, causing the app to assume the payment wasn’t made. If this happens:
Check: Verify if the amount was deducted from your wallet.
If Not Deducted: Try the mint process again.
If Deducted: Open a support ticket to receive a free mint code and repeat the final mint step.
Step 8: View Your Prometheus Hotspot
Once minted, you can view your hotspot in the app.
Instructions:
Access: Open the Miners tab to see your deployed hotspot.
Status Indicators:
The hotspot will initially appear in red until it is fully activated.
It will turn green once activation is complete.
A turquoise/light blue color indicates that further actions are required.
Note: It may take up to 10 minutes for the hotspot to appear in the list, and up to 48 hours before it begins earning rewards.
Step 11: Mounting Your Hotspot
Proper mounting is essential for optimal performance.
Instructions:
Pole-Mounted: Mount your Prometheus Hotspot on a pole (such as on rooftops, canopies, balconies, etc.). The signal is omnidirectional, so only one device is necessary per location.
Wall Mount: Alternatively, mount the device on a wall. Position the front of the hotspot toward the area with the highest usage (e.g., a strategic location within your premises) to effectively serve your customers.
Step 12: Test the Networks
Finally, ensure that all networks are functioning correctly.
Instructions:
Connect to the Wayru WiFi network.
Connect to the Wayru Mobile network.
Connect your other devices to the Wayru Operators network.
